El Paso author and poet Benjamin Alire Sáenz is the first Hispanic winner of the PEN/Faulkner Award and the American Book Award. Below is an excerpt from his book, “Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe,” which is being adapted into a film. The book won a Printz Honor Book, Stonewall Award, Pura Belpré Award and others. He recently released the sequel, “Aristotle and Dante Dive into the Waters of the World,” which was ranked No. 1 on the New York Times Best Sellers list for young adult books.
