About: The 36-foot tall monument is the second in the XII Travelers series created to commemorate the 400-plus year history of the region. The monument, originally called Don Juan de Oñate, took about six years to build in Mexico City. It was assembled in Wyoming and delivered to El Paso in 2006, and was officially dedicated in April 2007.
