Message from SISD Supt. Dr. José Espinoza

Supt. Dr. José Espinoza

The 2018-19 school year may be nearing completion, but the progress and success in the Socorro Independent School District certainly is not slowing down.

Our continuous work to ensure all Team SISD students are prepared for college, careers, and life has been fruitful with meaningful and engaging activities for everyone in the community.

It was awesome to see hundreds of SISD high school seniors complete the enrollment process at the SISD Operation College Bound enrollment event at all comprehensive high schools in the district.

A big thank you to our awesome partners the University of Texas at El Paso and El Paso Community College for making this another successful event.

SISD was the first in the region to start this initiative to get students on the right path to college by providing them on-site, convenient services with friendly, one-on-one assistance from UTEP and EPCC staff – all without students ever having to leave their high schools!

With new early college high school programs opening at Eastlake High School, Pebble Hills High School and El Dorado High School next school year, Team SISD will provide even more opportunities for students to get ahead and save money.

The early college programs allow students to earn free college credits and an avenue for them to earn their associate degree at the same time as they earn their high school diploma.

Starting with opportunities for students at all age levels is important, too. Which is why we have kept our Tech-E Program, also in partnership with UTEP, in full force to give more than a thousand elementary and middle school students hands-on experience with digital learning and new technology.

Of course, providing state-of-the-art facilities for our students and staff is critical in their success, as well. We are proudly making excellent progress in Bond 2017 to keep up with the growth and improve maturing facilities in Team SISD.

Cactus Trails Elementary School, our first Bond 2017 project to be completed, will be ready in July for students in the Pebble Hills area of Team SISD. We can’t wait to welcome the Diamondbacks!

Before that though, I look forward to celebrating all our students’ achievements with the many end-of-year celebrations and, most notably, our Class of 2019 graduates in June.

I invite everyone in Team SISD to help us celebrate, and I thank all of you for making Team SISD – The Right Choice for Endless Opportunities!
