Has your abuelita taken you on a ride on an El Paso Streetcar yet?
The streetcars – the historic buses that run on electricity across Downtown and around UTEP – returned to El Paso in November.
In the last issue of El Paso Kids Inc., we told you that the streetcar system began nearly 140 years ago, when mules were used to pull wooden trollies and its passengers along El Paso’s dusty streets and into Juárez, Mexico. The first electric streetcar began operating in the city in 1902, and ran in different forms through 1974.
Your abuelos may have ridden them, and likely have great stories to tell you about them. So why not invite them and the entire familia to take a ride and make some memories together?
