El Paso Zoo Asia Carousel

Children from Grannie’s Daycare and Learning Camp were among the first to test out the new carousel at the El Paso Zoo this summer.

The El Paso Zoo this summer opened a new attraction that has kids and their parents and some grandparents spinning with joy.

The new Asia Gateway area has a cool and colorful 36-foot carousel ride that has 30 hand-painted animals you can ride. The animals represent endangered species from around the world such as an Asian elephant, a Mexican grey wolf, a white rhino and a western lowland gorilla.

The Hunt Family Endangered Species Carousel was a gift to the community from the El Paso Zoological Society made possible with the support of the Hunt Family Foundation.

The carousel is open year round during zoo hours, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. The zoo is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day and closes at 2 p.m. Christmas Eve. The zoo is at 4001 E. Paisano. Information: 915-212-0966 or elpasozoo.org.
