The national PBS Writers Contest encourages creativity in children through an initiative that asks students to submit stories with illustrations for review by a panel of judges.
Now in its fifth year in El Paso, the local contest drew more than 200 entries from children in kinder to fifth grades. Entries were judged by students and faculty in UTEP’s Department of Teacher Education. The first place winner advances to the national contest.
El Paso Kids Inc. publishes a list of the winners and the work of one of the winners. Entries are also digitized and featured on kcostv.org. El Paso Electric and El Paso Kids Inc. sponsored this year’s contest.
