The El Paso Museum of Art will hold pastel classes 5:30-8 p.m. Thursdays through Oct. 28 at the museum.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 10
Canyon movies
The films “Field of Dreams” and “The Blindside” will be shown Friday and “Little Big League” and “The Express” will be shown Saturday at McKelligon Canyon Amphitheater as part of the free “Movies in the Canyon” film series.

Movies are at 7:15 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Sept. 25.

“March of the Penguins” and “Dirty Dancing” will be shown Sept. 17, and “Happy Feet” and “Footloose” will be shown Sept. 18.

Alfresco! Fridays
70s disco/funk/rock band Fungi Mungle will close out the Alfresco! Fridays outdoor concert series 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Arts Festival Plaza, between the El Paso Museum of Art and Plaza Theatre.

‘Fashion’s Night Out’
El Paso stores Agua, Al Varela Cosmetics, NoNo’s, Susan Eisen Fine Jewelry, Tres Mariposas and Versaille will be open Friday night as part of the worldwide fashion celebration “Fashion’s Night Out.”

Each store will host its own events to celebrate fashion including goodie bags, DJs, signature fashion cocktails and a trivia-based scavenger hunt.

Ballet folklorico
There will be a performance of dances from various regions of Mexico, “Ballet Folklorico Tonatiuh,” 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 3 p.m. Sunday at Chamizal National Memorial.

The exhibit “Beauty in the Abstract” opens at Chamizal National Memorial.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 11
‘Opera for All’
El Paso Opera presents “Opera for All” 7:30 p.m. at the Plaza Theatre in Downtown.

The evening will feature tributes to the victims of 9/11 and the victims of the Juárez violence with a theme of global unity through the music of Puccini, Verdi and other great opera favorites.

Celebrated Mexican tenor Jose Luis Duval and world-renowned soprano Lauren Flanigan will perform with opera singers from the New York City Opera and the University of Texas at El Paso.

Maestro Carlos García of Orquesta Sinfónica is artistic director with El Paso Opera for the 2010-11 season.

Choir auditions
