Gloria Marina Ramirez went home to the Lord on July 21, 2018.
Ramirez was born on July 18, 1950, in Madera, Mexico, and lived in El Paso, Texas, most of her life. She was a dedicated garment factory worker and an immaculate domestic engineer.
Gloria opened her heart, her home and her kitchen to anyone who ever needed a warm meal, a shoulder to lean on – or a good talking to. She exemplified compassion, forgiveness and unconditional love, and always put others before herself.
Her wit and humor were as spicy as her cooking, which was as abundant as her heart.
Gloria was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, “tia,” sister-in-law and friend – “the root of the root and the bud of the bud” of our family tree. We carry her in our hearts.
She is survived by her loving husband of more than 50 years, Carlos Ramirez; her daughters, Armida Ramirez, Cindy Ramirez and Marina Ramirez; her son, Cesar Ramirez; her grandsons, Christopher Ramirez, Charlie Ramirez, Anthony Ramirez, Robert Cadena, Enrique Cadena, Christian Ramirez, David Ramirez, Raymond Ramirez and Adrian Ramirez; her granddaughter, Daniela Ramirez; and her great-grandson Rayland “Little Ray” Guzman.
She is also survived by her sisters, Tayde Valenzuela and Macrina Rivera, and countless in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Manuela Rivera.
She was laid to rest at Mount Carmel Cemetery on Saturday following a Mass at Cristo Rey Catholic Church.
