Enrique “Henry” Quintana Jr. met his creator on May 15, 2019, after a prolonged hospitalization and a rapid decline in health. He was 67.
Enrique was born on Jan. 9, 1952, in El Paso, and was a lifelong resident.
He worked for the city of El Paso Parks and Recreation Department, KTSM-TV, and El Paso Electric, from which he retired after 28 years in 2013. Since then, he became a tenured professor at El Paso Community College.
“There was a not a time after seeing Henry Quintana that you did not feel better about yourself, your family or life itself,” his longtime friend Wayne Thornton wrote on his memorial page at Dignity Memorial.
“He just had a great perspective about making the most difficult decisions easy,” wrote Thornton, a longtime spokesman with the El Paso Parks and Recreation Department.
Enrique is survived by his wife, Lourdes Quintana; his children, Enrique Quintana III and Maritza Quintana; his granddaughter, Judeanna Quintana; his siblings, Rosemary Rodriguez and Charles Quintana; and his mother, Elena Quintana; along with numerous cousins and family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Enrique Quintana.
Visitation services and a rosary were held May 21 at Hillcrest Funeral Home – East, 1060 Carolina. A Life Celebration Mass followed on May 22 at St. Patrick Cathedral, 1118 N. Mesa. Pallbearers were Enrique Quintana III, Charles Quintana, Gary Bautista, Larry Bautista, Sr., Joseph Rangel, Fernie Rangel, Jack Daniel Bolaños and John Hupfer.
