Richard Dayoub, CEO of the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce, announced that Karl McElhaney has been named vice president of the chamber’s government relations division. McElhaney, who worked for U.S. Rep. Silvestre Reyes for 16 years, began his career in public policy with then-Rep. Bill Richardson of New Mexico.
McElhaney has experience in community partnerships, and has worked on issues ranging from ports of entry and affordable housing to local business and federal contracting and education. He has a bachelor’s in political science from the University of New Mexico.
Native El Pasoan Cassandra Brown is the new director of policy and programs for education in the chamber’s government relations division. She has worked as staff support for El Paso City Council. Brown has a bachelor’s in political science and a master’s degree in public administration, both from the University of Texas at El Paso. She is a 2005 graduate of Bel Air High School.
Allison Armendariz, who joined the chamber in 2010, was promoted to director of procurement in the business development division. She has a BBA in supply and value chain management from Texas Christian University. A native El Pasoan, she graduated from Franklin High School in 2005.
