It was no laughing matter for trainer Tood Pletcher and his horse, Cutting Humor, going into the Sunland Derby on March 24.
But the duo happily celebrated a victory at the Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino race with a record time of 1:46.94 – and the $80,000 winning purse.
The Kentucky-bred horse won the Grade III race that all but assures him a spot in the Kentucky Derby. Nearly 17,000 fans attended the 16th annual event.
Races at Sunland Park continue Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday through May 5.
