Fun and fundraising was on the menu at the first Blue Diamond Gala, hosted by Bowie High School’s Culinary Arts Program April 20.

Student chefs prepared a meal for guests that included an arugula salad with raspberry vinaigrette, roasted Poblano soup, mango intermezzo, chicken chimichurri and a vanilla gateau.

Founded in August of 2018, more than 150 students participate in the program, which includes a food truck called Oso Good. Most of the vegetables and fruits used in the dishes come from the school garden, according to Christopher Puga, the school’s culinary chef instructor.

Proceeds support the program, student scholarships and a trip for students to culinary colleges in Texas.
