‘Running’ on HBO

“Running with Beto,” the behind the scenes documentary about Beto O’Rourke’s campaign for the U.S. Senate, is scheduled to air May 28 on HBO.

In the meantime, the doc has won a couple of awards: the Audience Award at SXSW in Austin, and the Producer’s Vision Award at the Sun Valley Film Festival in Idaho. And there have been screenings of the doc in Boston, New York, Los Angeles and Dallas.

Food news

Look for Burritos Crisostomo to open its sixth El Paso location later this year. The new location will be near the Outlet Shoppes at El Paso in Canutillo.

The business has six Juárez spots and is known for its tasty burritos and quesadillas. Have you tried the picadillo burrito, with ground beef, Anaheim peppers, potatoes and tomatoes? They make their own tortillas, you know.

Sail away

El Paso real estate broker David Etzold clearly has skills that can be used at sea. He was recently part of a four-man sailboat crew that won not one but two first place trophies in the 48th annual BVI Spring Regatta in Tortola.

That’s in the British Virgin Islands, FYI.

The crew won first place overall in the Bareboat Class, and first place in the Mount Gay Rum Challenge Day. Etzold and the rest of the crew have been buddies for years. They were all members of the class of 1976 at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.

Mobility news

Susan Melendez has stepped down as chairperson of the Camino Real Regional Mobility Authority, a position she has held for almost 11 years. Melendez is senior vice president for investor relations at the Borderplex Alliance.

Succeeding her as chair of the authority is Joyce Wilson, former El Paso city manager and current CEO of Workforce Solutions Borderplex. Wilson was appointed by Gov. Greg Abbott for a term that will end in 2021.

Borderplex speaker

In other border news, Earl Anthony Wayne, who served as ambassador to Mexico during the Obama administration, will kick off this year’s Distinguished Speaker Series presented by the Borderplex Alliance. They are hearing from a lot of businesses in the region that are being hurt by border delays. The event is planned for 4 p.m. May 14. A formal announcement should be made this week.
